Sarah is a joy to be around, even though she is a stubborn little toddler. What she likes and does not like is evident already, even at her young age. From a very young age she started to assert her authority on the family with baby tantrums. Lack of language skills have not been a barrier for Sarah. For a young child with limited speech she communicates well. No, up, this and that seem to be her only required language skills.
Even non verbally she can communicate well. She has a huge grin when she gets what she wants, but a massive frown if something is not to her liking. Typically of most toddlers, screaming, crying and yelling are common place when she does not get what she wants. This is all very consistent behaviour for a one and a half year old and it is actually marking a new stage in her development.
Sarah’s tantrums started much earlier than Charlotte, her sister who is now 6. Charlotte was not a tantrum girl, Sarah on the other hand is the tantrum queen.
I know many parents who love the toddler stage, but are also frustrated with the toddler problems associated with it. Lying on the floor, tantrums, yelling, fights and even banging their heads! This stage of behaviour can be frustrating but it is also a positive time of growth.
Funnily enough, I am not too worried about this stage because I have learnt the secret to dealing with toddlers temper tantrums. I can now let my child develop her own self whilst maintaining a peaceful household.
You can learn the skills needed to deal effectively with your toddler. You can actually be guided step by step through this challenging stage of development, with an audio course. Not only will you learn how to get what you want with your toddler, but you can use the communication techniques in other situations. New skills learnt in the course can even be sued on older children and teenagers.
The impact of the words you use on peoples behaviour can not be underestimated. Upon talking steps to understand my child, I found out that there is great power in words and sentences. The way you talk to your toddler actually impacts on their behavior.
Parents find it frustrating at this stage in their childs development. There is assistance out there and resources available to improve parental skills.
