If any readers are still carrying surplus weight following the delivery of their baby I highly recommend they buy and use a jogger stroller. I gained 20 lbs more than I should have when I was pregnant and I was a bit anxious about how I was going to shed all of that surplus weight once my child was born. I had a concern I might be stuck with it. One of the nurses at my physician’s office advised me that I could look at buying a jogger stroller.
I had never been interested in jogging, but I loved to hike, so decided to go along with her advice. Obviously, simply because it is labeled as a jogger stroller doesn’t mean that you have to go for a run with it. It’s just designed to be more robust should parents be keen on working out while taking their baby for a walk.
Initially, I was discouraged by the prices as I had no interest in paying more than one hundred dollars for any type of stroller, particularly as I already had one. However, three weeks after my daughter was born, I was rethinking that. I attempted to take her for walks outdoors but the regular stroller just seemed too big and cumbersome for walking at a faster pace. It was great for day-to-day uses but not for exercise.
So, once again, I looked at the prices of the jogger strollers. My husband told me that it didn’t matter what the price tag was, as long as it would help get me outside of the house and be fitter and more cheerful again. We finished up getting a middle priced one for more than I wanted to pay out, but less than what we could have spent. The instant we got home and worked out exactly how it worked and went together, I was off.
I was utterly surprised at how quickly I could shift and how much more comfortable it was for me to manage. What was still more unforeseen was how quickly the baby fell asleep. I suppose it offered a much smoother ride for him than the bulkier stroller had. She could be incredibly grouchy ahead of being put in the stroller and then inside a few minutes of being strapped in, she was as cheerful as could be.
I loved being in a position to be outside and not feeling like I was so cooped up inside all of the time. There were times that it was dreary and wet, but luckily, the stroller had a nice little roof for her and, with a raincoat for me, I was still content. I managed to take off a couple of lbs each week.
The only other piece of infant gear that comes nearby to the usefulness of the jogging buggy is my baby beach tent which supplies crucial beach shelter on our outings to the shore.
